The last few months have been craziness here. Its been a long time coming but we decided to move out of our house because it was a bad situation. It started last winter when the house couldn't get above 50 degrees on our coldest days and the kids were wearing coats on the main level. It was miserable and I was so ready to move. To compound that my two best friends here moved. They were our closest neighbors and made living where we did fun. They were also our carpool buddies and after they left I had to drive the kids to school by myself which with a napping baby is no fun. THEN what finally convinced Brent was we had bats in our bedroom three nights in like a week. That was the straw that broke the camels back. We also weren't sure we were even in a lease.
So after trying to work things out with our landlord to fix all these problems we realized he is just really not a nice man. So we started to look for a new place to live. This is tricky when you need a three bedroom and you are on a budget. After a lot of praying and a lot of looking I felt inspired to check a certain website one day and there was the PERFECT place to live. I e-mailed the person and we applied within hours of seeing it. Everything worked awesome with the new place.
The old place did not have the same luck. We ended up needing to find a subleaser and had TONS of unneeded drama over that. Needless to see we learned a lot of life lessons in the last three months and we learned what to do when your landlord is being a scumbag. Now we know better for next time, but hopefully there is no next time.
It was a few stressful months but now it is over. We moved on the coldest day of the year. They even cancelled school. But our ward is awesome and we had TONS of help. I think there were like 20 guys. I also got three calls a day asking if people could feed us or take our kids. We got more meals the week we moved than I have ever gotten when I had a baby! We are settled now and for the most part LOVING our new place. Here are the improvements:
#1- TWO BATHROOMS
#2- We live next to the older kids' school so I don't have to drive them anymore.
#3- We live right next to three families in our ward with kids our kids' ages. Best friends right next door.
#4- Playground right outside.
#5- Garbage Disposal
#6- This should have been higher on the list. Its warm, in fact we don't pay for heating.
Okay, you get the gist. Its a little smaller than our old place but its worth it.
